Amtrak Accessible Station Development Program Surveys

Location: Western USA
Client: Amtrak

Otak, serving as a subconsultant to Jacobs Engineering Group, was one of six firms selected nationwide to assist Amtrak with surveys for their Accessible Station Development Program (ASDP). This federally-mandated program provides for the design and construction of rail station facilities that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The project began in January 2011, when Otak’s survey crews visited the first sites in Montana and endured blizzard-like conditions with a wind-chill factor of 50 degrees below zero. In addition to the Montana sites, Otak’s Portland and Kirkland offices performed topographic design surveys and boundary surveys at sites in Oregon, Washington, California, and Idaho. Note: ASDP is nationwide—Otak just worked in states mentioned above.
