Tempe Town Lake Pedestrian Bridge

Location: Tempe, AZ
Client: City of Tempe

This functional icon for the City of Tempe connects bicycle and pedestrian paths surrounding Tempe Town Lake and links Papago Park and neighborhoods in North Tempe with Tempe's Mill Avenue District. Aesthetically compatible with the Tempe Center of the Arts, the bridge consists of four 230-foot cable arch spans that cross mid-span, a dynamic treatment complemented by shade canopies and lighting. Through subtle and diverse design elements, the Otak and TY Lin team have created a new gateway for the City of Tempe and a vital transportation link for the community's bicyclists and pedestrians.
