Three Otak projects received 2013 Engineering Excellence Honor Awards from the Oregon Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) at their annual awards banquet!

The first project to receive an award was the Battle Creek Property Redevelopment in Salem, Oregon. Otak was responsible for redevelopment of the former Battle Creek Golf Course in SE Salem. The post-project Battle Creek property includes a new collector street serving the new Battle Creek Elementary School and an open space designed for flood mitigation and stormwater detention while also providing wildlife habitat and recreational space.

The second project was the I-5: Wilsonville Road Interchange project in Wilsonville, Oregon. This project developed a significant gateway into downtown Wilsonville, increased traffic capacity, and provided significant facilities for pedestrians and bicyclists. Otak led a talented team to develop this fast-track project which includes complex retaining wall designs, low impact stormwater treatment, colorful landscaping, and artistic streetscape features.

Finally, the third project to receive an award was the Crystal Creek Pedestrian Bridge in Olympic National Park, Washington. This was a joint submittal with Hart Crowser. This project involved an approximate 160-foot-span suspension bridge over Crystal Creek along the Boulder Creek Trail. The west side main stay cables have a back span that is anchored into the ground while the east side main stay cables are anchored to a rock cliff directly adjacent to the bridge.
