Doug Garland is a Practice Area Leader within Otak’s CPM (comprehensive project management) division. His interest in project management was cemented during his undergrad at Oregon State University (OSU). He took on an internship with the OSU Facilities Group as a Project Engineer on the Kelly Engineering Building. Some of Doug’s favorite projects include RiverBend Hospital, Bybee Lakes Homeless Shelter, Oregon Liquor Control’s Conveyor Project, and The Oregon State Police Replacement Headquarters at Trelstad. Outside of work, he enjoys kayaking, hiking, and woodworking.
“Working at Otak gives me the opportunity to meet different people with a wide variety of backgrounds and skillsets so I can continue learning new things.”
With an extensive background in the industry – including 18 years growing his Minority Business Enterprise consulting company, Gabayan LLC – Henry Alaman appreciates the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, something that now serves him well in growing Otak’s multidisciplinary work across the Rocky Mountain region as regional director. Whether it be working with the National Park Service, a project in Colorado or in the United Kingdom, this portfolio diversity also reinforces his interest in exploring new places both nationally and internationally.
Henry’s knowledge of people and how they work together is directly tied to an ability to manage the right people for the right project. He is also very familiar with Otak’s body of work, having previously led work with our owner’s representative team as well as working to identify next generation leadership for the firm. When Henry is not traveling, you can find him engaged in any number of outdoor activities, from kayaking and white water rafting to mountain biking and trail running.
David wanted to be an architect for as long as he can remember, which lead him to a career in project management. He loves the collaborative environment of Otak where he can work with like-minded, positive, productive leaders to see projects through to completion. David focuses on empathy to solve problems and keep groups working in harmony. When weekends roll around you can find him on the golf course, playing tennis or building his photography skills.
“I enjoy working at a multidisciplinary firm with great people and a global reach.”
