Hoodland Fire Bond Program Welches, Oregon
To strengthen emergency response and wildfire readiness for a 45-square-mile area around Mt. Hood National Forrest, the $19 million Hoodland Fire Bond Program was passed leading to a new fire station. As owner’s representative, Otak worked closely with project partners to secure the bond and maximize its value in the delivery of this new facility for the surrounding communities.
A Facility to Meet Emergency Response Standards Near a National Forest
The new 24,000-square-foot Hoodland Fire Station replaces a previous facility, constructed in 1966, to meet today’s seismic and emergency response standards. Six service doors, a community room, triage facility, and nine private bunk rooms to accommodate fire fighters are featured in its design. Bordered on three sides by National Forest land and 15 miles from the next nearest fire district, operations here were designed to provide structural fire protection services for an area where it was previously lacking. The new facility will also serve as a shared base with the USDA Forest Service, further enhancing its place in public safety for these communities.
