Northeast Redevelopment Area Stormwater Facilities Planning and Design

Location: Burien, WA
Client: City of Burien

The northeast redevelopment area (NERA) of Burien, Washington, adjacent to Sea-Tac International Airport, is an area in transition as a result of the recently completed third runway. Otak has helped create a redevelopment plan to manage change in the NERA. Working with the City of Burien and Port of Seattle, Otak developed a plan for a flexible range of future land uses that will be compatible with airport operations, stimulate economic activity and create jobs. Otak is currently designing stormwater and low impact development solutions including stream enhancements to the Miller Creek corridor and a system of state-of-the-art stormwater management facilities interspersed throughout open space areas along the creek corridor.
