Emergency Watershed Protection Phase 2 Program - Design and Implementation for Resiliency Front Range Flood Recovery Areas

Location: Colorado
Client: Colorado Water Conservation Board

Otak was part of Resilient Watershed Partners, a coalition of local stream restoration leaders that implemented a three-year flood recovery and restoration program for the Colorado Water Conservation Board and the Natural Resources Conservation Service. In two years under this program, Otak has assessed (geomorphic, hydraulic, and sediment transport), designed, and provided permitting and construction support services for a dozen restoration projects located in Left Hand Creek, St. Vrain Creek, and Big Thompson watersheds. Otak designs focused on important resiliency strategies, including floodplain reconnection, channel complexity, local sediment storage and sediment transport balance, large wood function, and native revegetation.
