Round Butte Dam

Location: Near Madras on Lake Billy Chinook, OR
Client: Portland General Electric, Warm Springs Tribe

Fish passages often involve careful planning, but creating this water intake structure in Lake Billy Chinook to enable fish passage past the Round Butte Dam required a particularly high degree of accuracy. The 270-foot structure will be constructed above the water surface and submerged into place on the bottom of the existing lake, with only the top five to 10 feet visible above the surface. Otak provided all survey control for the anchor blocks, floated the fish intake structure and retaining walls and provided as-builts and quality control for off-site concrete pontoon vault construction.
