Georgetown Festival Street

Location: Seattle, WA
Client: SDOT

Otak led the visioning, design, and public outreach for this festival street on 12th Avenue South between South Vale and South Bailey Streets, including the intersection of South Vale Street and Airport Way South. This intersection and street serve as the unofficial hub of the Georgetown Business District and are where several community events happen throughout the year. The City’s goal was to integrate traffic calming and create a more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly space. In addition, this street space can now be closed for neighborhood festivals through the year. Work included project management, traffic and parking studies, traffic/multi-modal simulation and analysis, signal and lighting design, roadway and drainage engineering, public involvement, landscape architecture, environmental documentation and permitting, geotechnical analysis, constructability, plans, specifications, and estimates, and design support during construction.
