96-Inch CSO Outfall into the Willamette River

Location: Portland, OR
Client: Oregon Health & Science University

The largest urban redevelopment in Portland history, the South Waterfront District has required significant public and private infrastructure upgrades. One of the largest such elements is a 96-inch CSO Outfall that replaces an aging 66-inch concrete pipe and an existing 48-inch storm outfall to meet NOAA Fisheries requirements. The project required Otak to carefully monitor ground movement due to the close proximity of a 36-inch high-pressure water main and the structural pile caps for the Marquam Bridge. Completion of this project will set the stage for continued redevelopment of the District and the new riverfront college campus for Oregon Health & Science University.
