SE Southworth Drive Bridge Replacement

Location: Kitsap County, WA
Client: Kitsap County

Curley Creek supports anadromous and resident salmonids including coho, Chinook, fall chum, steelhead and cutthroat. Kitsap County officials hired Otak to replace a structurally deficient bridge that spans the creek as it flows into Puget Sound’s Yukon Harbor. The new design features a longer span bridge structure, restoration of the estuarine mouth to historic conditions and the removal of abutments and a rock weir that impede fish passage. Otak scientists documented baseline environmental conditions and worked effectively to achieve compliance and secure permits from state, county and tribal agencies and the Army Corps of Engineers.
