Swamp Creek Improvements

Location: Kenmore, WA
Client: City of Kenmore

Upstream development had worsened the flooding conditions near Kenmore, prompting officials to identify flood-reduction measures such as the reconstruction and restoration of 1,000 linear feet of the Swamp Creek channel and the replacement of an existing bridge and roadway. Otak provided the full range of construction management activities, including field inspection, field engineering, and all administrative responsibilities. Work included running weekly construction progress meetings, response to RFIs, coordination with franchise utility companies and local residents, field engineering as directed by stream/floodplain grading, preparation of monthly progress payments, preparation of change orders, and coordination of project closeout and as-builts. Otak was also responsible for regular briefings with the City Manager, City Engineer, and City Council to keep them informed of project progress.
