As Biketown, Portland’s bike share program rolls out this week, four Biketown founding members from Otak go for a ride.

(from left to right) Glen Bolen, Tammi Connolly, Katie Kersten, and Andy Kutansky

We walk towards the orange bike hub located one block from our office. Excited to try out the new system and see what it’s all about. After entering the code and pin, unlocking the u-lock and placing it on the bike, and wearing our Otak hardhats for safety, we’re off.

We ride the streets of Portland shifting gears with smiles on our faces. This will be a great way to travel around town and get some exercise. After our 20 minute 2.5 mile ride we’re back at the hub, locking them up and heading back to the office.

The overall consensus was they were easy to check in and out, not as heavy as we imagined, and fun to ride. We recommend trying it out!

If you’re visiting Otak, the hub at 3rd between Morrison and Yamhill is closest to us.
