Otak’s interdisciplinary organization has given me a wider amount of knowledge than I had expected to get working at an architecture firm.
In the sixth grade, Alex took an architecture course and immediately fell in love with the idea that art can be used for everyday functions. To her, architecture is a unique combination of creating something visually beautiful while also solving a problem or providing a use beyond the aesthetic. Alex has been able to apply this passion daily through working on the Hyatt Place hotel and residential tower project here at Otak. Otak’s multi-discipline organization gives Alex the opportunity to work one on one with disciplines she would not normally be exposed to, giving her a wider amount of knowledge than she would have gained from an architecture firm. Alex also is extremely passionate about affordable housing because she believes housing is a human right. “Everyone should be able to access a safe and supportive home where they are able to better themselves.” When she’s not at work, Alex enjoys exploring the outdoors with her dog, traveling, and spending time with her family.
