Client: Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation Commission (subconsultant to The Berger Partnership)
The Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation had a vision of transforming Warren G. Magnuson Park into a vibrant, urban park by restoring natural habitat and wetlands, and adding five new athletic fields. The Berger Partnership selected Otak to provide environmental analysis; prepare Draft Environmental Impact Statement documents; provide habitat design; and prepare the biological assessment for Endangered Species Act compliance. Otak scientists designed the habitats to integrate with the sports fields and the movement of water across the site. Otak continues to provide habitat monitoring for amphibians and other wildlife. The project won “Best Park Design” from the Washington Recreation & Park Association.
