The City of Tempe is creating a mixed-use transit center to accommodate the region’s increased business needs while integrating with its new multimodal transportation opportunities. Officials aspired to create a sustainable structure, which proved a significant challenge in the desert climate. Through the strategic use of shade, glazing, vegetation and wastewater, Otak+Architekton is currently seeking LEED-Platinum certification.
