Salmon Creek River Restoration

Location: Clark County, WA
Client: Clark County Department of Public Works

Fish passage has become an increasingly important issue in the Northwest, as Clark County's efforts to stabilize a streambank and fish passage on Salmon Creek attest. For years, a seven-foot headcut had been held in check with sheet piling and concrete, a tactic no longer deemed appropriate. Otak designed a passage that eliminated the headcut and stabilized the channel while providing scour protection for a new bridge. Design plans and specifications were also included in permitting applications and bridge replacement plans, resulting in a design that met Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife requirements and project constraints.
