Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor Waterfront Security Enclave

The Navy is increasing security for the restricted waterfront area at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor. Otak designed all surface and stormwater facilities for a new security enclave consisting of an 11,300-foot-long fence extending from south of Delta Pier to north of the Explosives Handling Wharf. The enclave features a double fence with associated clear zones, lighting, sensors, cameras, a patrol road and entry control points. The new drainage plans incorporate best practices for flow control, water quality treatment and low impact development techniques. The mitigation plan addresses impacts on nearby wetlands and streams by restoring an estuary along Hood Canal.
