Boeing Creek Park Improvements and Stormwater Detention Facility

Location: Shoreline, WA
Client: City of Shoreline

In recent years, the City of Shoreline experienced increased runoff that overwhelmed existing drainage systems and flooded homes and public streets. Floodwater was sometimes three to four feet deep. Taking a holistic approach Otak devised stormwater management improvements that also enhances amenities at Boeing Creek Park, a 36-acre refuge of old-growth forest, trails and streams near Seattle. This multi-phase project included constructing a new storm sewer trunkline with street improvements such as a new landscaped walkway. The team also retrofitted two regional stormwater facilities by: improving stormwater conveyance; expanding stormwater detention capacity; and enhancing park areas with a cascading water feature, plantings, trail improvements and benches.
