Boeing Creek Park Improvements and Stormwater Detention Facility
Location: Shoreline, WA In recent years, the City of Shoreline experienced increased runoff that overwhelmed existing drainage systems and flooded homes and public streets. Floodwater was sometimes three to four feet deep. Taking a holistic approach Otak devised stormwater management improvements that also enhances amenities at Boeing Creek Park, a 36-acre refuge of old-growth forest, trails and streams near Seattle. This multi-phase project included constructing a new storm sewer trunkline with street improvements such as a new landscaped walkway. The team also retrofitted two regional stormwater facilities by: improving stormwater conveyance; expanding stormwater detention capacity; and enhancing park areas with a cascading water feature, plantings, trail improvements and benches. |
