Clatsop Community College Campus

This campus update initially encompassed surveying 16 city blocks near the Astoria Column, but once underway, the project revealed much more than a typical city survey. While researching the project, Otak uncovered the original plan for Astoria, dated March 1844 -- some 15 years before Oregon was granted statehood. The map contains numerous notes that clarified the vision for Astoria as it was initially conceived, adding a level of historic insight not seen on modern plans and plats. Otak used this context while completing a topography map and boundary survey in conjunction with the design and renovation of new buildings for the College.
