Diamond Creek Bridge

Location: Douglas County, OR
Client: ODOT/Douglas County Public Works

Environmental sensitivities are common with bridge replacements, but the location of Diamond Creek Bridge on national Forest Service land provided unique challenges. The original 250-foot bridge was structurally deficient with cracks in the girders and floor beams, making replacement the only option. Otak performed extensive environmental assessments and geotechnical investigations in addition to hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, bridge design and construction management/inspection. The replacement, a two-span curved steel plate girder bridge, rests on MSE walls to deliver a solution that is both sensitive and sensible. Construction management and inspection services were also provided.
