Al Gharbia Physical Framework Masterplans
Location: UAE Al Gharbia, Abu Dhabi’s vast Western region, is the nexus of traditional and modern Emirati society. To balance the region’s traditional values with modern-day investment and tourism opportunities, Abu Dhabi’s Urban Planning Council created Plan Al Gharbia 2030. The plan envisions Al Gharbia as a model for responsible and sustainable development. Otak was hired to manage and complete Physical Framework masterplans for Al Gharbia’s three main settlements: Liwa, Ruwais and Mirfa. The engagement included assessment of existing conditions, comprehensive masterplans, sustainability strategies, plot allocations, design guidelines, development regulations and implementation plans. Otak was also responsible for overall project management and infrastructure design, and worked with a team of international experts. |
