Riverfront Park Master Plan
Location: Salem, OR The City of Salem envisioned establishing a connection between downtown and the Willamette River and completing development of the City’s Riverfront Park. Challenges included managing an extensive stakeholder involvement program; developing a market analysis to establish a suitable program for the park and its new building; and working in soils contaminated by previous landowners. Otak developed a master plan that included the conversion of Court Street to an urban plaza and parking court; construction of bridges to improve pedestrian access; esplanade development and streetscape enhancements; park improvements such as a new boat dock; and a public art program for the underpass, plaza and park. |
