Mt. Solo Middle School

Client: Longview School District (subconsultant to Northwest Architectural Company)

The design and engineering of this $19.6-million facility required careful consideration of the environmental sensitivities of its low-lying site and the circulation system necessary to separate vehicular from pedestrian traffic. After importing sand to surcharge or depress the building pad, Otak used raised planters, bollards and paving patterns to direct visitors to the appropriate buildings and athletic facilities, then integrated them into the site circulation in a way that optimized convenience for classes, student athletes and spectators.
