The 130-acre South Waterfront District is among the largest urban waterfront redevelopments in the United States. Its Central District alone required constructing approximately 4,500 feet of new roadway and associated utilities, demolishing numerous low-rise buildings, relocating and under-grounding 1,500 feet of a 115kv power line and constructing a large swale facility and a 96” diameter storm main to the river. Otak provided survey, civil engineering, permitting and construction oversight while remaining responsive to both the environmental and developmental concerns during numerous stages of construction. The Central District has achieved the Salmon Safe designation for sustainable neighborhood design and practices.
