Vancouvercenter is an ambitious public/private venture to redevelop two city blocks in downtown Vancouver. It includes two apartment buildings, an 11-story office/condominium tower with ground floor retail space, a public plaza and underground parking garage. The plaza offers an interactive fountain and a major pedestrian link connecting the transit mall to Esther Short Park. Otak served as intermediary between the client and general contractor, and monitored construction budgets, schedule, craftsmanship, permits and inspections; provided shop drawing/submittal and RFI processing; and managed numerous closeout duties.
