Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Shams Abu Dhabi is an ambitious masterplan to develop Abu Dhabi’s Al Reem Island. Otak partnered with Perkins+Will, YGH and Colab Architecture to design six parcels called the “Upper Village” — approximately five million square feet of new construction. Otak designed and planned two parcels bordering the island’s central canal, which included 300 housing units, 800 parking spaces, 40 hotel suites and over 30,000-square feet of retail space. High-rise towers anchor the site’s opposing corners, while mid-rise towers frame a central multi-level parking facility, plaza, pool and amenity level. Glass and stone provide a signature architectural vocabulary and provide privacy and sun protection for residents. |
