Al Bateen Hotel + Residences
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE This landmark $240 million facility leverages its waterfront location to promote tourism, business and public recreation. As lead design-build consultant for the 103,000-square-meter Hotel and Spa, Otak has managed all architecture, engineering, landscape architecture and design coordination. Sustainability has been a key component of the entire project, from its 400-room hotel and 220 serviced apartments to its 1,000-person ballroom and automated subgrade garage for 2,000 cars. Among the sustainable elements are energy-efficient solar screens, fritted glass with integrated solar cells and an eco-roof. Before ground was even broken on the two towers, retail shops, conference facility, waterfront market and promenade, the innovative design for the Al Bateen Hotel + Residences had earned the 2007 People's Choice Award from the American Institute of Architects, Portland, Oregon Chapter. |
