Could a Pool be a Possibility?February 16, 2011
Wilsonville Spokesman, 2/16/2011
By: Patrick Johnson The city of Wilsonville has received a plan that would remove the caution tape and barricades from the former Thunderbird Mobile Club and replace it with an apartment complex, single family homes and even an Olympic-sized community pool. Clyde Holland, owner of the Holland Partners Group, said he recognizes the property has been the source of much community conflict. He told the Spokesman last week he sees this as an opportunity to give Wilsonville what it deserves at the center of town a quality housing development . Blaise Edmonds, the city's manager of current planning, said Holland Partner Group, a Vancouver-based development company working on several projects in the Hillsboro area, submitted the plans for the southern part of the 58.94 acre former mobile home park. The project, called Brenchley Estates, is 35.5 acres bordering the Family Fun Center and Interstate 5. The application is for a master plan, and is broken into two parcels. Phase one includes 21.72 acres and phase two is 9.5 acres of residential housing The project was designed by OTAK Inc. of Lake Oswego. The designer is asking the city for a waiver on the 35-foot height limit as the plans propose 40-foot apartment buildings. We would love to break ground on the project sometime this summer, hopefully in July, said Brad Kilby, an OTAK planner. I think phase two would start about a month later To view the Wilsonville Spokesman, please click here. |
