Perry Arch Bridge - DJC Top Project for Renovation

Daily Journal of Commerce Magazine, May 2010

Initial plans leaned toward demolishing the old arch bridge crossing the Grand Ronde River near Perry, Oregon. It was one of the earliest bridges designed by Conde McCullough, Oregon’s first state bridge engineer who is renowned for his arch bridges along the Oregon Coast.

Just under 23 feet wide, the Upper Perry Arch Bridge consists of four approach spans that average 50 feet in length and one main arch that spans 130 feet. Ultimately, due in part to the efforts of the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office and other preservationists, the decision was made to restore the arch to its original condition....

….During the arch repairs, it was discovered that the original concrete was in much worse shape than initial assessments indicated. Otak provided new guidelines for the repairs that included limiting each repair section to 10 feet at a time…

Otak provided structural engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, water resources, and utility coordination services.
